How much should a fairly-priced holiday lighting installation service for Christmas lights and decor cost you?  Whether you decide to get the services of professional installers or go out there and buy your own supplies, it won’t cost an arm and a leg, if you let these determining factors guide you:

House Outline

This includes the roofline, gutter line, and peaks. Take note that what is specified in the quote is what the professionals are going to install, so make sure you read it. The quote will basically say “House Outline” in the subject, while the description may say, “Install C9 or C7 lights on your gutter lines, rooflines, and peaks.”

Typically, the basic C7 and C9 is priced depending on where you are in the US, which can mean anywhere from $5.00 a linear foot to $7.00 a linear foot. Prices will vary throughout the year with the same company, so when the beginning of November hits, charges are from $4.00 or $5.00 a square foot or linear foot. When it gets closer to December, when the need is there and the professionals don’t have a lot of capacity, charges can start from $7.00 or $8.00 a linear foot. You can also decide to have icicles on the same surfaces, which can cost you $2.00 to $3.00 extra a linear foot.

The prices for wreaths are pretty static, and will not be inflated too much. Garlands can only be bought in certain lengths, at about 9 feet per strand. They are going to charge you by the 9 feet, and it’s going to run you about $5.00 to $8.00 per 9-foot section. They can get a little pricey if you’re doing a bunch of handrails and columns, and will change if it’s lighted garland, real garland, fake garland, real wreath, light wreath, or fake wreath.
