Renting vs Buying Christmas and Holiday Lights

Renting vs Buying Christmas and Holiday Lights

To rent or not to rent: that is the question. When it comes to deciding whether to rent or buy Christmas lights, consumers are faced with different kinds of pros and cons, in more than one area of consideration. Let’s go over them below:

As far as the pros in buying your own Christmas lights, of course, you own them. That’s the number one thing. You can use them as many times as you want, and also as far as, during the course of the year, you can put them up and take them down anytime that you want. Some customers love to celebrate Christmas in July. This is a popular thing, so you have the opportunity to put them up and take them down and use them as you need them.

As far as some of the cons, you have to pay if there are any issues with the lights: if they’re broken, you have to replace them, or sometimes, because the entire light system doesn’t come back on and off for whatever reason, you have to replace the entire amount of lights that you purchased. Also, storing the lights is a con. Sometimes, you may have a ton of lights and you have to wind them up and put them in boxes and find a place to store them. When you do purchase the lights and you’ve had them for a little bit, the value obviously goes way down and may even go out of style.

There are definitely a lot of benefits to renting the lights through us. First off, you don’t have to worry about a million feet of wire and a bunch of bulbs taking up your garage or your attic where you typically store those. We’ll actually store them away for you at our location. If you have any issues whatsoever in regards to a light bulb going out or just any kind of issues with them, it’s covered within the pricing. You only have to let us know. We’ll come back and get everything corrected and working for you.  What’s also included in the pricing is a professional installation. We know everything that has to do with the electrical end of things and making sure everything’s safe and working right. Also, at the end of the winter season or the holiday season, you are automatically set-up for a tear-down. you will get a courtesy call before we come out, which is also included in the value. It’s a high-quality product that’s not going to be the kind of do-it-yourself approach where you might have droopy-looking lights in your homes. It will look nice and neat and professionally-cut. It’s all custom-fit to your house.

There are some cons, too: obviously, at the end of the day, you don’t own them. There are a bit more upfront costs and maybe a bit more pricey, but it’s worth the value to have all the professional approaches to everything. Lastly, there’s a limited time, since you’re automated for the take-down. We determine when to take them down, so you may not be able to keep them for as long as you might with your own, but we always wait until after the New Year’s and all the main holidays are done so you still get a really good value
